TUFF is a proprietary product developed by Ecohealth Products Pvt Ltd. It is an inorganic formulation available in liquid form under normal temperature and pressure. It is non-toxic and absolutely safe.
PROPERTIES : TUFF has the property of enhancing the strength of structures manifold, when mixed with cement. It also increases life of the structures and reduces setting time.
USAGE : TUFF has to be mixed in the appropriate ratio as a grinding aid during the manufacture of cement or in the cement mix used for concreting or plastering. This mix will ensure that the structure has double its normal strength, while substantially reducing the setting time by 60 percent. For best results, add 150 ml TUFF to 50 kgs Cement and mix thoroughly using water. Apply as usual.
QUALITY IMPROVEMENT IN PORTLAND CEMENT WITH CEMENT PLUS ADDITIVE
In the Portland cement manufacturing process, Tricalcium Silicate hydrates rapidly and forms earlier strength and earlier heat of hydration. Tricalcium Silicate is formed in a kiln when the charge contains more lime resulting in more CaO in the reaction.
These silicates are generally Tricalcium silicate and Dicalcium silicate. The mineral constituent Tricalcium is one of the main mineral compounds of Portland cement. It has several advantages. They are as follows :

3CaO.SiO2.3H2O -à CaO.2SiO2.3H2O+Ca(OH)2
More Tricalcium silicate is very necessary for improving the quality of Portland cement. The addition of small quantities of silicates and lime to the kiln aids the formation of Tricalcium silicate giving improved quality of Portland cement.
The formation of Di Calcium Silicate can be reduced as much as possible for better hydration speed and hydration heat and they can be formed when the raw materials contain less lime.
The reactions of tricalcium aluminate can be controlled by proper addition level of Iron and small amount of gypsum to avoid flash set in the concrete.
The addition of small amount of gypsum (CaSo4.2H2O) retards the hydration reaction of tricalcium aluminates so that the calcium silicate can set firstly. The gypsum can modify the setting time by slow down the hydration and stops flash setting.

At the same time more addition of gypsum is not advisable.
While adding TUFF to Gypsum it can increase the rate of reaction with silicates present in the clinker and form strong bonding resulting in improved compression strength.
The trial results indicate that there is an improvement in compression strength by 20% in the first day itself.
